There are dog-people and there are cat-people in this world,
and we’re proud to be who we are. And herewith I declare
my side of the furry divide:
THE CONSCIOUS CAT
intricately involved
with air earth sunlight
she stalks
shadow among shadows
kill completed
sparrow robin or vireo
she sits to wash
her perfection
cleanliness made
cat stretches
furls into sleep
until the next
urge to eat

Hi Joanna,
I guess I can keep up with you here! I am a dog person, but I have owned a few cats. Enjoyed your poem. – Bill Cook
Hi Bill,
Dogs have their place in the world. We had one for 16 years but cats remain my favourites.
Thanks for looking in. Joanna
