January seems to me to be a slow time of year, carrying a sense of let-down after the excitements of Christmas. Yet it’s a good time to sit down with a friend or three and visit … a time to share, sort out past and future …

each other

hands hold
mugs of coffee

where do we begin
after so long?

round the room

eyes meet
and the past

tumbles    flows
over us
