I SOLD DOROTHY LIVESAY A BED

they say that Dorothy
slept lightly those last years
warm on her posturepedic                       IMG_7886.10.3.15.blog

an extra in the basement
not likely to have a guest
between the sheets
when I was a student
eating rice and sardines
for breakfast

she bounced
on the springs
high into a line of laughter
sat down and dreamed a cheque
into my hungry hands

she never said
she was a poet
