City Centre

A glimpse of a teen down-town, and I wonder what he’s doing,
who he is, what his fears, his story …

a boy walks through
pooled street lights
unseen by passing cop

luck lurks under
his nails
ready to be bitten

he shrinks invisibility
in town hall shadow

police car slows corner
on his way to wife   kids
mortgage    cut lawn
