For the stargazers: the Lyrids meteor shower appears on April 16 – April 26 each year. And the sky has presented us with endless fascination since the beginning of time, through Pythagoras, Galileo, Tycho, Newton, down to today and the Hubble telescope, lunar and solar eclipses …
TANKA ON SKY
sky leaned down
this morning
kissed the earth
and wept
while no one watched
she curled
around a hill-top
clung to crags
and folded herself
about grazing sheep
then wound beams
of blue ribbons
tied her hair
with white bows
and smiled

To Bethlehem: ‘This little book is delightful, full of … poems on this timeless subject. … the most fun is the little prose vignettes of the common people in the Christ-child story. The slave who looks after the wise men’s camels, or the overworked maid at the inn who has to fetch water for the birth, and many more. A lovely gift for the reader on your Christmas list!’ Rosalind Adams. Available from Amazon and Kindle.
Learned about tankas this morning; Appreciating so much the sky in BC and your poetic descriptions, so real!.
