A Gathering

Crowds can be interesting, bewildering, scary, and, in small gatherings
great fun, especially writers’ groups …

A GATHERING

they’re holding
a writers’ festival
on the far side
of the sky

up where sci-fi
western      horror
tales hang out
with clouds
of novelists
a mist of poets
free verse
and rhyming

any soul with
pen in hand
laptop computer
and words to spend
is welcome

This collection draws a picture of the poet’s divorced mother, an artist with two children, who struggled with poverty, war, and the realities of daily life, yet still found beauty and comfort in her garden, and her art.
