We are singularly blessed by seeing bald eagles frequently where
we live, and some are momentous encounters, and I expect to see at least
one on Thanksgiving this weekend …
SOARING OVER THE VALLEY
the bald eagle that flew
directly to my window –
last moment rising
eight overseeing
the golf course
two juveniles perched
high on a dead fir tree
in morning sunlight
the one swept low
across the road
ahead of my car
one rising from its prey
trailing ribbons of guts
the eagle that plunged past
as we had dinner
overlooking Finlayson Arm
two from woods below me
circling soaring
into an aching blue sky
To Bethlehem: ‘This little book is delightful, full of … poems on this timeless subject. … the most fun is the little prose vignettes of the common people in the Christ-child story. The slave who looks after the wise men’s camels, or the overworked maid at the inn who has to fetch water for the birth, and many more. A lovely gift for the reader on your Christmas list!’ Rosalind Adams. Available from Amazon and Kindle.
Dear Joanna, I like this one very much. Love from Jenny. Sent from my Galaxy Tab A (2016)
