My blog is all poetry: I write everyday, and post to my blog on every Wednesday. If you have any suggestions about what I should write about, let me know.
I like to find a photo that either complements or contrasts with the poem, and I have great fun looking for the photo, either in my collection or having to take one that ‘fits’.
Born in England, I live in Shawnigan Lake, on Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada. I am married to Robert; and we have three sons:
… two cats, Alice and Chaucer, a herd of deer, raccoons, and two derelict hen-houses.
I have published in numerous anthologies and in magazines such as 7Beats Here and Now, Canadian Women’s Studies (print), Cynic Online Magazine, The Feathertale Review, A Hundred Gourds, Ink Sweat and Tears, Joyful, Mu Haiku Journal, Paper Wasp (print), Tower Poetry, and many more…
I have been a member of the Poetry List of the Internet Writing Workshop, for thirteen years. It’s an invaluable resource and a great place to learn.
Clarity House Press has published several of my chapbooks including:

Hi Sally, I’m beginning to figure this out! Many thanks for your reply. Hope all goes well with your summer. All the best, Joanna
Thank you for your kind note about “Pasayten Wilderness” at In Her Place. You’re on the IWW, aren’t you? It’s a wonderful resource.
Best wishes for your writing,
Adrienne Ross Scanlan
Yes, I’m on IWW and love it, a real support and encouragement for writers.
Have a happy writing weekend!,
I have just discovered your poem “The Becoming” and am so excited to find this piece as it provides the exact usage of the word and imagery that I want for an English essay I must write at University.
That’s great. I’m glad it will help you. What university are you at? And what’s your major? Let me know how you do with the essay.
I am at Liberty University in the States. Lynchburg, Virginia. My major is International Relations here, but I am currently writing a definition essay in my English course.
Did you find my poem by googling? I’m intrigued. Hope you’re enjoying your courses.
I found your poem in the Canadian Women’s Studies journal through an online database through my university. I am enjoying my courses very much. I love the school and I have been acquainted with the classes, campus, and people of the university now. I am a freshman from Michigan and am definitely enjoying the warm southern US weather during the winter time, however, being from Michigan I am an avid winter sports fan so it is a tradeoff. You are located in near Vancouver in BC? I would love to live up there. A teammate on my hockey team here is from Penticton and I hear nothing but great things about BC. Enjoy your day and blessings to you.
I just read and enjoyed your story over at Nailpolish Stories. Great stuff!
I love writing those micro murder stories! And I’m delighted that you enjoyed this one. Many thanks.
Love your poem in this months Front Porch Review.
Miss the group and hope to be back soon.
Hi Pat, Great to hear from you! And thank you for checking in with my poem.
Hi Joanna! I’m down at George’s and don’t have your e-mail address. We’re going up to the Kootenays tomorrow for a funeral and won’t be back Mon. morning, so this is my regrets for the meeting., Love, Eleanor White.
Hi Eleanor, Message received! Many thanks.
I support the wonder works of this out of space and time lady of poetry. A Mistress of Words.
Michael Lee Johnson, Itasca, IL poet. I’m about to record 2 of Joanna Weston’s poems on Mp3 audio file…look for them in my voice, her words.
Thank you, again, Michael.
Joanna, we met last week at Yelliw Point Lodge. I told you you reminded me of an English actress. As we were leaving the ferry, it came to me: Dame Joan Plowright. So relieved! It was a pleasure to meet you.
Hi Jamie, Thank you for being in touch. I have to admit that I had to google Dame Joan, and am
impressed to remind you of such a personality. And it was a pleasure to meet you too, maybe
again next year, same time? All the best, Joanna
Enjoyed the poetry at http://brassbellhaiku.blogspot.com/.
Many thanks, Thomas. It’s an interesting site. Joanna
